J.C. Restoration Volunteers Succeed in Packing Over 124,000 Life-Saving Meals
Rolling Meadows, IL – December 4, 2019 – J.C. Restoration, Inc. (JCR) and hundreds of community members worked to feed thousands of starving children in the developing world. Through a partnership between J.C. Restoration and Feed My Starving Children (FMSC), volunteers set a goal to prepare 109,000 life-saving meals at our FMSC MobilePack event. We are pleased to announce that this goal was greatly surpassed, and instead the group packed 124,416 meals. The MobilePack took place October 18, 2019 at the J.C. Restoration campus: 3200 Squibb Avenue, Rolling Meadows, IL.
A total of 400 community member volunteers came through JCR’s facility to generously give their time. Volunteers packed 576 boxes of specially formulated food, designed to meet the needs of severely malnourished children. This is enough to feed 340 children every day, for an entire year. Lively music was played, a gong sounded when each station finished packing a box, and fun was had by all. We recently found out that 396 boxes of food have shipped to Malawi through partner LeSEA Global Feed The Hungry, and 180 boxes of food have been shipped to Columbia through partner Food For The Poor.
A special guest came for our event, Jackie Chavez, of Happiness Now – an organization that works to provide food, water, and dignity to the Los Cocos community in the Dominican Republic. Her community benefits from the food packed by FMSC and its volunteers. Donations were given to Jackie to take back to her community, a total of $3,352 given from Mobilepack volunteers and J.C. Restoration. Happiness Now is a non-profit 501(c)(3) public charity dedicated to serving people in need. Since 1998 they have been committed to helping one community at a time within the Dominican Republic to end poverty and homelessness. More information can be found here.
“Giving back is of tremendous importance to everyone at J.C. Restoration, and to have had the opportunity a third time to make an impact such as this for these children is remarkable. We are so humbled by this experience, and are beyond grateful to our staff, friends, and neighbors for their assistance in making this a success,” remarked Warner Cruz, president.
